Foi feito o design da capa e das abas do livro, sendo esta capa uma realizada em papel com acabamento matte que cobriria um livro de capa dura. Adicionalmente, foi feito um marcador que segue o design do livro escolhido.
A presença focal da minhoca foi escolhida como tema representativo na capa pois esta é uma criatura essencial à narrativa e ao conflito existente no livro, quis-se ainda evocar com a mesma o Sol de modo a transmitir a transcendência e a envergadura que uma criatura assim teria na realidade.
The focal presence of the worm was chosen as an illustrative theme for the bookcover because the creature is key to the narrative and conflict that leads to the fall of the House Atreides. With the worm we chose to evoque the Sun in hopes of transmiting how transcending and formidable a creature like this would really be.
O design escolhido foi focar no ambiente desolado do planeta Dune, e o seu contraste de deserto (tons dourados, terracota e laranja) versus o céu azul e a profundidade do espaço que escolhi representar em azul escuro e através de um degradé.
The chosen design focuses on the desolate environment of the planet Dune, in the contrast between the desert (golden tones, terracota and orange) versus the blue of the open sky and the depths of outer space that I chose to represent in a dark, ashy blue and through degradé.
Assim, a simplicidade da cor permitiria brincar com as texturas das dunas e da areia, assim como a profundidade e textura da minhoca gigante que no texto produz a tal especiaria que é o foco político e económico da classe alta do livro.
Thus, the colour simplicity of the background would allow me to play with the texture of the dunes and sand, as well with the depth and size of the giant worm that in text produces the Spice that is the political and economical focus of the High Class in the book.
